"Preparing the Endurance Horse" is written so the reader can have a sense of the way I think as I communicate with the horse. I have used this style to aid in understanding the simplistic thinking used in a process that is effective with the horse. As you read along, you may need to reread sections to clarify a concept or perhaps take notes for further study. This packet contains the "nuts and bolts" used to prepare Maverick. My entire system is more passive than aggressive in order to keep the horse settled and progressing. The slow way is the fast way. The value of this concept is that I progress slowly so I do not have to correct anything I have done. In the situation where the horse has been prepared incorrectly, the process of correction goes something like this: First, correct the "wrong response"; second, show the correct skill; third, go through the process until he has it correct. If the preparation is correct the first time, that will be the only time he has to go through the procedure. If you would like another copy of Preparing
